Amazing Spider-man Brand New Day Trade Paperback

Just finished reading Marvel’s Brand New Day The Amazing Spider-man trade paperback.  I have really become hooked on the trade paperbacks.  The art is in bright high-gloss formats and really let’s you see the detail of the artwork.
It was terrific, putting back some of the quirky fun antics of spidey really made me feel like the old spidey was back.  It has spider-man up against Overdrive and Mister Negative.  But best of all is the fantastic artwork and style of the red haired and quite buxum Jackpot.  It is a collection of Amazing Spider-Man #546-551, Spider-man Swing Shift and material from Venom Super Special #1.
A great – fun read and excellent art.  A nice way to spend some quiet time after work.

Anyone else hooked on trade paperbacks?

Collectible Comic Book Superheroes Isn’t Just for Kids!

dsc00850

Collecting superhero figures is not just for children. Many adults really enjoy searching out and finding original superhero figures from their favorite characters. They look online at places like eBay and other online auction sites bidding on original action figures. These action figures can be very inexpensive and only costs $5 to $10 or they can be very expensive costing several hundred dollars. The cost depends on how old the action figure is and what shape the action figure is in. Original figures are worth a lot more money if they are in good condition without any scratches, dents or other blemishes.

Superhero collectibles are more than just action figures that you play with. Collectibles are figures that adults usually purchase and leave in the boxes and do not play with. These type of collectibles are different than the action figures that children purchased at toy stores. The main reason is because these collectibles are not played with, there only purpose is to remain in a box on a shelf for display. So most children do not get into collecting superheroes until they are much older and no longer feel the need to play with the collectible superhero figures.

Comic book and superhero figures are more popular today than they have ever been. With more and more new movies coming out, made from superhero comic books, it is easy to understand why these figures are so popular. Every year millions of dollars are made from movies based off of comic book heroes. These movies are not just geared towards children or adults that like to collect superhero memorabilia; these movies are made for audiences of all ages.

Millions of people around the world enjoys superheroes both in comic books and in movies so it is no wonder that collecting superhero figures has become such a multimillion dollar industry. So the next time you’re in a toy store looking at figures from the latest million-dollar comic book movie, consider purchasing them and keeping them in the box so that you can sell them on eBay to one of the diehard collectors looking for that figure. You never know you might just make a few extra dollars.

Whether you enjoy collecting superhero figures or just watching superhero movies; superheroes are something that we all look up to. They can fly, or have super strength ,they fight the bad guys, and keep the Earth safe. Compare that to most of our daily boring lives it is easy to see why superheroes are so popular. Our children love to watch the cartoons, then grow up to read the comic books, and we all grow up to idealize the vision of superheroes in our society.

Collectible figures whether superhero or otherwise are an interesting way for an individual to show how much they enjoy a specific character. So even children may decide to get into collecting superhero figures, although they may not be able to keep the figures in the boxes and not play with them. But enjoying the superhero figures is the best part of collecting them.

The Marvel of Batman,s comic popularity!

For people there are many different forms of reading material. These reading materials can be thought of as non-fictional and fictional forms of reading matter. In the fictional form comic books like Batman comics are a firm staple for people of different ages. Batman was first introduced to the populace by Detective Comic in their book number 27. The character of Batman was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger. As the latest crime fighter Batman was a huge success. For this reason DC comics released the Batman comics as a separate comic book title in 1940. Since that period Batman comics have remained a favorite. Batman brings a sense of realness to the fantasy world of super heroes. Many folks can relate, on some level, the the character that batman portrays. While the Batman comics have earned this crime fighter a place in the chronological record of fiction superheroes there have been many occasions where the character of Batman has been changed or revamped to fit in with the current trends and ideas. An example of this can be seen during the early historic period of the Batman comics. As with everything else there is an evolution of the original character. While batman remains true to his origin, the overall theme of his world has changed. As many of the comics of during the 1939 to 1949 period were depicted as pulp fiction the Batman of that period was granted many of the traits for that time. To make the character more realistic Batman Comics showed Batman battle his enemies as a vigilante using only his combat skills, his strength and his intellect. Different from the other superheroes Batman was not granted any super powers or special abilities. He was portrayed as a man who was driven to fight crime in his way but one who still respects the laws of his home city of Gotham. In many of the Batman comics Batman is shown as a silent and grim crime fighter who battles his enemies by himself. The mystery of Batman strikes the human populations curiosity. Who is this man? Why does he fight crime? Where does his passion come from? These are the fundamental questions that often times keeps us coming back. To make batman’s character seem more human the creators of the series later added other characters to the Batman comics. For most of the history of Batman his sidekick Robin is shown fighting alongside of Batman. Afterwards additions to the cast of the Batman comics are batgirl who is shown as Police Commissioner Gordon’s daughter Barbara, and batwoman. The various villains who appear in the Batman comics are also well known. The names of the Penguin, the Riddler, catwoman and even the Joker are ones that we recognize. While many changes have been brought to the mysterious man, Batman comics are still comics that are read by many people. The various Batman movies that many of us have seen are a testament to the popularity of this superhero and the ever growing host of Batman fans. So, when you are reading the next Batman or watching the next movie ask yourself, What intrigues you about this super hero…

PS3′s New Killzone 2

I’d played the original Killzone on and off several years back and decided to pick up the new Killzone 2 and give it a try.

The original ended with the Strategic Alliance being left on Vekta 2 years ago against the Helghan leader Visari and his troops.  Now the story line continues with the ISA having enough and now we are on the charge going right into the middle of Visari’s empire.  Of course, Visari won’t take this laying down so we have renewed war!

There are awesome, bloody battles that start once your troop lands.  They’ve been aboard the capital ships and dropped into the war zone, so be ready.  You’re met with deeply entrenched Helghast soldiers.

The set up is terrific – you feel the very unfriendly surroundings, with partially destroyed buildings and the Helghan’s have deep red almost glowing eyes…a great effect and makes for a nice target as well.  There’s alot of effort put into the details of your surroundings to give a real feeling of a worn torn environment.  Although they have lightning effects everywhere overhead and sometimes it caused me to lose focus – this is bad – very bad in a war zone!

There are basically 10 missions through all sorts of terrain, urban to wilderness and the challenge levels vary.  Keep pushing through until you find yourself  inside the palaces.  Your team is well armed and well trained and your fellow fighters provide considerable help during all the battles, especially as you get better using cover.

Your buddies help with filling in the backstory too as you go along.  One word of warning, the language is filled with the oh too favorite F-word splashed everywhere.  But the cool effects and the different challenges really pull you into the game.  There is a man-to-man combat scenario where you’ll find yourself inside a tank, pretty great action.

You can also practice your skirmishes with off line play against 15 bots in 4 levels of difficulty with bots who perform fairly well  but there’s a little overuse of grenades flying all over the place.  Thsi is a good practice to really gain knowledge on the maps…a major knoweldge necessity.

Some notes:

* The first mini-boss is the Blood Medallion Heavy, you need to shoot the glowing pack on his back.  Take cover behind the wall to the right and move up to its side.  Then take out as many of his troops behind him as you can – all is best.  Then as your troop assaults it start shooting at the pack with all you’ve got.

Killzone 2 has a very good cover system.  Basically hunch down behind any good cover and use the left analog to look to the side or over your cover then release it to duck back down.  There are some tricks to it but it didn’t take long to figure out the best use of cover.

This game is filled with new action and realistic gameplay, weaponry, the most evil of enemies.  I loved it and I’m pretty sure this is one game I won’t be loaning out too soon.

As I get more game-time with this one, I’ll keep you posted.

Good Hunting!

Northrend’s Icy Lands of WoW

I have really found the art work in these new lands to be some fo the best anywhere.  I’ve actually stopped to look at the art and cost myself.

One of my favorites is the first land Howling Fjord which is a level 68-72 and has a dungeon, Utgarde, a level 70-72 that goes up to an 80.  There are a number of monsters and the Horde can start questing.  This is where Arthas landed and stranded himself and his troops so they are well settled in.  It’s a beautiful land of mountains, trees and some great batttles.

Then the Crystal Forest is exceptional, it feels as cold as the crystal golems look and as a dragon lover, glad to see the Green dragons in this level 74-76 land.  I got a kick out of the singing crystals.  In this world if you get to the Dalaran Crystal you can be teleported to Northrend’s main hub.

At Icecrown you have much of the same look to this land as in the Howling Fjord, only here is the home of the Lich King and the Frozen Throne.  The Scourge defend the world but I liked the fact that for a change of pace the Horde and Alliance bases are flying gunships instead of ground based defenses.

All 10 of the lands are well done and the challenges and level ranges are all around that 70-80 range.

Is there anyone else who enjoys the artwork as much as the actual game play?

Hope to run into you in any world.
